Wuyi Rougui
This Wuyi Rougui tea is an entry-level tea known for its distinct floral aroma. Compared to other teas, Rougui’s floral and fruity notes are more pronounced. As soon as you open the packaging, you will immediately notice this strong floral fragrance.
Before recommending any tea, I always make sure to drink at least a dozen brews to ensure I provide an accurate review for fellow tea lovers. Therefore, I will describe both the advantages and disadvantages of this tea in detail.
This tea is produced by a niche tea merchant from Xiamen, Fujian. They use relatively tender tea leaves, which have a higher moisture content. As a result, the tea's aroma is very strong, and from the moment you open the packaging to when you brew it, the floral fragrance fills your mouth and nose. However, the downside of using tender leaves is that the higher polyphenol content makes the tea more bitter. Despite trying various brewing methods to counteract the bitterness, I found it difficult to eliminate completely. It seems that this bitterness is a distinctive feature of this particular tea.
However, the bitterness also brings an unexpected surprise. After drinking three cups of Rougui tea, I was amazed to find that the sweetness of the tea emerged. I could clearly taste the sweetness, combined with the floral fragrance, making it feel like I was enjoying a vibrant, beautiful flower. This experience was truly unique, which is why I decided to recommend this Rougui tea, hoping fellow tea lovers can experience this sensation together.
Brewing Method
- Recommended Gaiwan Brewing: Use 100°C boiling water for the first rinse, then discard the rinse water. For the second infusion, use water at 85-90°C to help reduce the bitterness of the tea.
Storage
- Avoid Light: Keep the tea away from direct sunlight and store it in a dry, cool place to preserve its aroma.

Each box contains 16 sachets of tea, with each sachet containing 8g of tea, for a total of 128g.
