Wuyi Mountain Lao Cong Shui Xian
Lao Cong Shui Xian is one of the three famous teas in Wuyi rock tea, known for its unique aroma (including floral, fruity, and nutty notes). I recommend this Lao Cong Shui Xian primarily because the "SEA DAKE" brand is a pioneer of this tea, founded in 1954. The legacy of a brand signifies the accumulation of tea quality, and after 70 years of continuous refinement and market validation, this Lao Cong Shui Xian has become a widely accepted product.
In the "SEA DAKE" line, this Lao Cong Shui Xian does not come in fancy packaging; instead, it offers a more affordable price (with a total of 250 grams of tea). Compared to Da Hong Pao, Lao Cong Shui Xian has a less intense aroma—while Da Hong Pao can usually be brewed more than eight times, Lao Cong Shui Xian typically brews about six times. However, it emphasizes floral and fruity notes, offering a smoother taste with a sweeter profile and lighter bitterness, akin to a gentle caress gliding down the throat.
If you find Da Hong Pao too bold and cinnamon too mild, Lao Cong Shui Xian is a great choice. At Jason's Teahouse, I’ve tried many styles of Shui Xian, and this one is considered an entry-level option (I hope tea enthusiasts avoid low-quality teas). In my opinion, there are many higher-grade options available, so I can only rate this tea at three stars. I hope everyone starts with this tea to appreciate the charm of Shui Xian, and later I will introduce you to more premium Lao Cong Shui Xian.
